iMoney

Terms of Service

Last updated: August 21, 2026

These are the rules for using iMoney — the app and the website at withimoney.com. Plain language, no traps.

By creating an account, reserving an @handle, or using iMoney, you agree to what's below. If you don't agree, that's fine — don't use it.

1. Who we are

iMoney is built and operated by the Up team. Reach us any time at upappco@gmail.com.

“iMoney”, “we” and “us” mean the service — the iOS app and withimoney.com. “You” means you.

2. Who can use iMoney

You need to be 13 or older. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission — and they're agreeing to these terms with you.

One person, one account. Don't create accounts for other people, and don't use someone else's.

3. Your account
  • You sign in with Apple or Google. Keep that account secure — anyone who can open it can open your iMoney.
  • Give us accurate information, and keep it current.
  • You're responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Tell us at upappco@gmail.com if you think someone else has got in.

What we do with the data behind your account is set out in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

4. Your @handle

Your @handle is how friends find you. Reserving one before launch holds it for you — it doesn't transfer ownership of the name to you, and it isn't property you can sell.

We may reclaim or change a handle if it:

  • Impersonates a real person, brand, or organisation
  • Infringes someone's trademark or other rights
  • Is being squatted — reserved in bulk, or held to resell
  • Is a slur, or is otherwise abusive
  • Belongs to an account that never activates after launch

Where we can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to pick another one.

5. What iMoney is — and what it isn't

iMoney is a record-keeping tool. You log what you spend, you split costs with friends, and iMoney does the arithmetic and remembers who owes whom.

That's the whole of it. Specifically, iMoney is not:

  • A bank, a payment processor, or a money transmitter. iMoney never holds, sends, receives, or transfers your money — settling up happens between you and your friend, by whatever means you choose, outside iMoney.
  • A debt collector, or a party to any debt between users. A balance shown in iMoney is your own record of an arrangement between you and someone else. Whether it's legally enforceable is between the two of you, and nothing to do with us.
  • A source of financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Budgets, reports, and spending suggestions are generated from your own numbers for your own information. Decisions are yours.
  • Connected to your bank accounts or cards. iMoney doesn't link to them, and never will without asking you first.

Category suggestions are produced automatically and are sometimes wrong. Check your own numbers before relying on them.

6. Your content

Your transactions, notes, avatar, and everything else you put into iMoney stay yours. We claim no ownership.

You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store your content, back it up, display it to you, and show the specific things you've chosen to share with the friends you've chosen — as described in the Privacy Policy. Nothing broader, and nothing that outlives your account.

De-identified group statistics published by iMoney Lab are covered in the Privacy Policy, and you can opt out there.

7. Fair use

Don't:

  • Break the law, or use iMoney to help someone else break it
  • Harass, threaten, defraud, or impersonate anyone — including through split requests, payment reminders, or handles
  • Upload malware, or anything you don't have the right to upload
  • Scrape, crawl, or bulk-collect other users' data
  • Break, probe, or work around our security, rate limits, or access controls
  • Reverse-engineer the app, except where the law expressly allows it
  • Resell or rent access to iMoney
  • Run bots or automated sign-ups, or reserve handles in bulk

If someone's using iMoney to harass you, email us. We'll act.

8. iMoney Pro
  • iMoney has a free version and a paid one, iMoney Pro.
  • Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple, through your App Store account. We never see your payment details.
  • They renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Manage or cancel at iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling keeps Pro running until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple, under App Store policy — we can't issue them ourselves, though we're happy to help you ask.
  • Prices can change. We'll tell you before a change affects your renewal, and you can cancel.
9. Changes to the service

iMoney is actively being built. Features will be added, changed, and sometimes removed. Pre-launch, some parts are early and may not work perfectly.

If we ever have to discontinue iMoney altogether, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data first.

10. Ending it

You can leave at any time: Settings → Delete account. What happens to your data then is in section 11 of the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that puts other users or the service at risk. Except where the breach is serious or we're legally required to act immediately, we'll warn you first and explain why. You can appeal to upappco@gmail.com, and a person will read it.

If we close your account without cause and you've paid for Pro, we'll refund the unused part of your term.

11. Our intellectual property

The iMoney name, logo, design, and software are ours. These terms let you use the app — they don't give you rights to our branding or code.

12. No warranty

iMoney is provided “as is”. We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every calculation and category suggestion will be right.

Keep your own records for anything that matters. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

13. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses — including lost data, lost profits, or money you lose in a dispute with another user.

Our total liability to you for any claim is capped at whatever you paid us in the 12 months before it arose, or US$50 if you haven't paid us anything.

Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited — including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some places don't allow these exclusions, in which case they don't apply to you.

14. Disputes between users

If you and a friend disagree about a split or a balance, that's between the two of you. iMoney isn't a party to it, won't arbitrate it, and can't recover money for you. We can show you what was recorded and when — email us and we'll help where we can.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan (R.O.C.), and the Taipei District Court is the court of first instance for any dispute.

If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away the protections of the mandatory laws of the country you live in — including, in Taiwan, the Consumer Protection Act.

16. Changes to these terms

When we materially change these terms, we'll bump the “Last updated” date and show an in-app notice the next time you open iMoney. Continuing to use it after that means you accept the new version. If you don't, delete your account — and if you'd paid for Pro, email us for a pro-rated refund.

17. The rest
  • If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
  • Not enforcing something once doesn't mean we've given it up.
  • You can't transfer your account or these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them if iMoney is acquired — your privacy rights carry over.
  • These terms plus the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us.
  • Written in English. Translations are for convenience; if they conflict, the English governs.
